Interpreters, interpretation and translation services
You are entitled to interpretation services when conducting important business with the authorities. The costs will be paid by the authority in question.
- If you are unable to speak Finnish or Swedish, or you cannot make yourself understood because of a disability or an illness, the authorities have the duty to organise interpretation and translation services in a matter initiated by the authority. You may for example need an interpreter for an initial assessment and drawing up of an integration plan. In these cases, booking an interpreter is the duty of the authority. However, the authorities do not always have a duty to provide an interpreter.
